Agronomist’s notes

  • The 1167 Vario MT Gen2 produces 680hp and 3,100Nm of torque from a 16.2L MAN six-cylinder engine.
  • Fendt has won 10 TOTY categories in the last 10 years and 18 in the competition's history.
  • The limited edition 900 series marks 50,000 units produced and 30 years since the 1996 launch.
  • The Fendt 832 Vario recorded 235g/kWh in the DLG PowerMix, a record for tractors up to 350hp.
  • EIMA runs 10-14 November at the BolognaFiere exhibition centre in Bologna, Italy.

A 680hp tracked tractor will make its European debut at EIMA in Bologna next month, as Fendt brings two 2027 Tractor of the Year (TOTY) finalists and a 300-unit celebratory 900 series to the 47th edition of the Italian machinery show.

EIMA runs from 10-14 November at the BolognaFiere exhibition centre. The biennial show takes place in even-numbered years — the opposite of Agritechnica, which runs every second odd-numbered year — and each show hosts its own annual TOTY awards. Fendt will reportedly present its "full-line portfolio, from compact and speciality tractors to combines and hay tools".

What does the tracked range offer?

The Fendt 1100 Vario Multi-Track (MT) Gen2 range gets its first European run-out at the show. Fendt launched the line globally in September at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, and will now present it to European operators.

The range consists of four models spanning 521-680hp. The top model, the 1167 Vario MT Gen2, puts all 680hp to work with 3,100Nm of torque from a 16.2L MAN six-cylinder engine. Fendt claims it is the most powerful tracked tractor with a stepless transmission (a continuously variable gearbox with no fixed gear steps) on the market.

The 1167 Vario MT Gen2 is one of two Fendt entries in the TOTY competition. The other is the 314 Vario Gen5, which runs AGCO's Power 44HD four-cylinder engine delivering up to 152hp, with DynamicPerformance — a boost system — adding 10hp on demand.

The tracked machine competes in the HighPower category, while the 314 fights five other tractors for the Utility award. Rivals include Steyr, Landini, Massey Ferguson and Claas. Fendt brings real pedigree to the contest: 10 category wins in the last 10 years and 18 in the competition's history.

Why does the 900 series matter?

The stand also hosts the first public exhibit of the limited edition Fendt 900 series. In 2026 the line hit two milestones: 50,000 units produced over its lifetime in July, and 30 years since the first generation rolled off the line in 1996.

The 900 series was Fendt's first tractor with the Vario transmission, the stepless gearbox that has defined the brand since. The special edition is limited to 300 units and revives the 2005 Fendt Design Line look, with embroidered and engraved anniversary logos and a choice of five paint finishes beyond traditional Fendt colouring — including the black-red scheme from Agritechnica 2005.

Can the fuel figures shift buying decisions?

Fuel consumption will be a central topic at Fendt's booth, the company has confirmed, with results from two of its top tractors in the DLG PowerMix test (an independent German fuel-consumption benchmark) on display.

In 2025 the Fendt 724 Vario Gen7.1 consumed 242g/kWh, plus 24.2g/kWh of AdBlue. That machine runs the AGCO Power CORE 75 six-cylinder engine, recently seen in the Massey Ferguson 7S Mark 2 and the sixth-generation Valtra T Series.

Earlier this year the Fendt 832 Vario went one better: 235g/kWh plus 29g/kWh AdBlue in the same test, a new record for tractors up to 350hp in the DLG PowerMix.

The timing suits the sales pitch. With fuel costs rising through 2026, efficiency figures sit high on the priority list for farmers buying a new tractor. Buyers weighing a 314 against a Massey Ferguson rival, or a 900 against a Claas, can now compare measured consumption rather than brochure claims.

The TOTY winners will be announced at EIMA itself, so visitors to Bologna on 10-14 November will see the verdicts land before the tracked range reaches European dealers.
